John A. Kuri (born February 16, 1945) is a US author, film and television producer, writer, director. Among his literary works are Takin’ It Back, a sports-themed inspirational novel endorsed by Shaquille O’Neil and Bill Walton among others (soon to become a motion picture), the historical novel Cheyenne Rising Sun, and the true story ROD cover endorsed by ABC Hall of Fame Sportscaster Keith Jackson. His filmography has over 30 titles including the classic Louis L’Amour western, Conagher, for which the National Cowboy Hall of Fame awarded him their Western Heritage Award, the MGM release starring Pat Morita "Captive Hearts"[1], and he is Emmy nominated for John Steinbeck's The Red Pony, starring Henry Fonda.[2][3]
Kuri is a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, a member of the Directors Guild of America, Writers Guild of America, and Art Directors Guild. He is very active in digital media and is the owner/ founder of the all video Internet portal www.staytunedtv.com viewed globally in over 75 countries.[4]
Kuri is a Senior Fellow with the Culture of Lawfulness Project for the National Strategy Information Center, “NSIC”, a Washington, DC based education and research foundation sponsored in part by the State Department, USAID, and Georgetown University, and speaks on their behalf at entertainment media conferences worldwide on the Culture of Lawfulness to illustrate how the entertainment media can weave inspirational themes into the stories and projects they produce. Kuri is a military school graduate, winning the Randolph Hearst national long rifle marksmanship championship, is a licensed commercial multi-engine pilot, and a jazz guitarist who occasionally plays Los Angeles venues and currently leads his sextet, Elixir & Friends. Currently he is the CEO/ President of Elixir Entertainment, Inc, an all media development and production company based in Los Angeles. Elixir Entertainment has joined with Xtreme Electronic Solutions of Florida to form Elixir XES 3D, LLC, a company specializing in autostereoscopy, 3D without the need for glasses. Kuri is CEO/ Managing Member of the company.
